PLUS 1 mission
Central to Plus 1 is our dedication to fostering a community that encourages intentional growth within the framework of Islamic education. We aim to create a supportive, spiritual environment where all individuals can learn, reflect, and strengthen their faith. Our initiatives, from enlightening halaqas to communal iftars, are designed to foster Islamic learning, understanding, and a profound sense of Ummah.
PLUS 1 HISTORY
Plus 1 began in July 2022 as a Sunday morning halaqa inspired by Sheikh Ammar, quickly shifting to Tuesday evenings at 7 PM—a tradition that continues today. The name “Plus 1” reflects our mission to build an inviting, inclusive community: each person brings a friend, who then brings another, helping our group grow organically.
From an initial 40–60 attendees, Plus 1’s welcoming spirit and engaging programming have helped it flourish, now drawing over 350 people weekly.
Beyond our core Tuesday sessions, we offer socials, educational programs, Quran and book clubs, and more, all designed to help Muslims in Houston find connection and belonging. We’re grateful for how far we’ve come and are excited to keep building a vibrant, lasting community together.
MEET THE SHEIKH
Tuesday sessions with Sheikh Ammar. A chance to learn, ask questions, and connect with someone passionate about guiding Muslims on their journey. Each week, Sheikh Ammar brings fresh insights, relatable stories, and real-world advice, making every session meaningful for everyone who joins.
